The Indian River Captains Association was formed originally back in the 1970's by a small group of Captains operating charter and head boat fishing trips on a daily basis out of the north side marina. The association disbanded after a loss of interest then reformed again in 1991 with 24 members. The first president of the newly reformed IRCA was Captain Bill Brown operating the Charter boat "Fiesta". Many of those 24 original members are still active in the association today over 17 years after it's reformation.

Captain Jim Cahill took over the president position next, then Captain Paul DiFebo, then Captain Mike Rivera.
The current President for the 2008 season is Captain Ken Savage owner and operator of Gale Force Charters.
Captain Paul DiFebo is Vice president and operates the charter boat Michael D.
Captain Paul Henninger is Treasurer owner and operates the charter boat Amethyst.
Robert Haas is Secretary and is Mate for the charter boat Dana Lynn.

The board of directors:
Captain Gene Wilgus - Owner operator of the Wild Goose
Captain Bob Smallwood - Owner operator of the Dana Lynn
Captain Jim Mahoney - Owner operator of the Blue Collar Man
Captain Jerry High - Owner operator of the Highlander

The association meets 3 times a year at a local restaurant for the purpose of planning events, discussing issues that affect the charter fishing industry, to set marketing plans in motion to attract new clientele to experience the fun and excitement of fishing in our local waters.
Our members are bound by a set of bylaws which promote ethics, honesty, and camaraderie to each other as well as customers.
